The organization was founded in 1944 to give amateur musicians a place to play their
instruments and to provide quality band music for the community. This has not changed. The Band currently gives four free
summer holiday concerts in the Pavillion in A. K. Bissell Park and six indoor concerts as part of the subscription series.
These are presented in either The Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center or the Grove Theater.
The band is a tax exempt, non-profit organization registered in the state of Tennessee. It is a member of The Arts Council of Oak Ridge and The Association of Concert Bands, the international voice of adult bands. We rehearse every Thursday night, 7:30-9, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, give concerts usually on Sunday afternoons and welcome as performing members anyone who plays a suitable instrument.
